Vocational & Technical
For those Calcasieu parish high school students who are not college bound, the vocational education department offers a wide range of commercial skills. Such programs include industrial arts, agriculture, air-conditioning, refrigeration, welding, carpentry, furniture upholstering, drafting, electronics, auto mechanics, auto painting, auto bodywork, building trades, home economics, food service, sewing, child care, and seismology. Half of each day is devoted to the chosen program and the other half to the academic requirements. Local businesses often hire students for on-the-job training experience.
